  • Scope: Located at the top of the wiki. Choose a time period and a wiki section.
  • Provides organizers with a list of their members' number of edits and messages (i.e. Discussion Posts) at a given date.

*Visitors are counted as unique IP addresses in a given day, including search engines and other crawlers. Note that for private wikis, we count views and visits to the access denied page ("You've Reached a Private Wiki") by search engines and other guests, so these numbers may be slightly higher than you expect.

We're making changes to our statistics pages
Wikispaces will be moving away from internal statistics and enabling users to add their own Google Analytics tag to their pages. This will mean that you can obtain statistics direct from Google Analytics and customize the settings based on your requirements. Please find details below on how to set this up;

How to Create a Google Analytics Account

  1. Navigate to the google analytics site -
Note: You are required to have a google account.  If you already have a Google account, and are not signed in, click 'Sign in'. If you do not have a Google account, or would prefer to create a new one please click 'Create account' (can be found under ‘More Options’).
  2. Click ‘Sign up.’
  3. Fill in your Account Name, Website Name, Website URL, and select an Industry Category and Reporting Time Zone.

  1. Under 'Data Sharing Options', check the boxes next to the options that you want to select.
  2. Click 'Get Tracking ID'.
  3. From the Google Analytics Terms of Service Agreement that opens, click ‘I Accept.’
  4. You will then see a transaction ID, you will need to add this to your Wikispaces site (see below for information on how to do this)
  5. You can set up a new transaction ID for each Wiki – this means that you will be able to look at statistics for each wiki separately on google analytics.  Alternatively, you can use one transaction ID for all Wikis, however this will mean that statistics will be shown for data across all the Wiki, not an individual breakdown.

How to Add the transaction ID to your Wiki
  1. Log into Wikispaces and navigate to the Wiki you wish to link to google analytics for data.
Please Note: you will need to complete this for every Wiki that you wish to obtain reports on.
  1. From the Wiki’s home page click ‘Settings’ and then ‘General’ and scroll to the bottom of the page.
  2. Enter the Tracking ID into the box ‘Google Analytics ID’ and click ‘Save’

You will then be able to obtain statistical data direct from google analytics.
