Common Wiki Options

This article highlights important and commonly used Wiki Settings. Visit this page if you want to learn about the Account Settings area.

Organizers have access to a wiki's Settings area - Members do not. 

Application Type
  • Go to Settings > General > Application Type to change your wiki's Type.
  • Wiki - Classic Wiki functionality
  • Basic Website - Hides configuration buttons from visitors (e.g. Edit, Change Log, etc.). Members will still be able to see wiki configuration buttons by clicking on the Toggle button next to their username  .
  • Classroom - Offered only on educational wikis. Offers the same functionality as our Classic Wiki, as well as our Projects feature, Assessment, and Events
Search Engine Indexing
  • Allows organizers to decide whether or not to allow search engine indexing for their wiki.
  • Only relevant if your wiki is publicly viewable.
  • Change indexing on Settings > General > Search Engines.
Permissions
  • Requires Account Verification.
  • Lets you decide who gets to view and edit your wiki
  • Public - Anyone can view and edit your wiki's contents. Discussion posts require signing in.
  • Protected - Anyone can view your wiki's contents. Only members can edit your wiki's contents and create/reply-to posts.
  • Private - Only members can view content and create/reply-to posts.
  • Custom - Available on Super Plan and education wikis. Allows you to set specific permissions (View, Edit, Create, Discuss).
User Creator
  • Available on Super Plan and education wikis.

Domain Name
  • You can change your wiki's domain name on Settings > Domain Name.
  • Standard Domain - Change your wikispaces address to another wikispaces address (e.g. YourWiki.wikispaces.com > YourWiki2.wikispaces.com)
  • Custom Domain - Available on Super Plan and education wikis. Let's you change your wiki's domain to a custom domain that you already own (e.g. YourWiki.wikispaces.com > YourWiki.com).
  • Visit this page for instructions on how to set your custom domain.
Delete Wiki
  • Go to Settings > Delete Wiki.
  • Check both boxes and click on "Delete This Wiki Now"
