Projects

Last Updated: Jun 04, 2015 06:03PM BST
A Project is a way for students to work on a specific activity or assignment in groups called Teams. Our Projects tool is available on all Classroom wikis. Click on the Projects icon  at the top to go to your wiki's Projects area.

Creating a New Project
  • Click on the Projects icon at the top of your wiki.
  • Click on Create Project (top-right corner of your screen) .
  • Type in your new Project's title.
Creating Teams
  • You'll be redirected to a new page after entering your new Project's title.
  • Click on Add Teams .
  • Click on each Team Field-box if you wish to edit its name.
  • Click on "+ Add a Team" to add more Teams to your Project.
  • You'll also be able to use a Spreadsheet (CSV file) or an existing Project to quickly create Teams and assign members to these teams - Note that these options will not copy another Project's content onto your new Project Team pages.
  • Click on Create Teams when you're finished .
Assigning Members to Project Teams
  • You'll be redirected back to your new Project page once you create your Project Teams.
  • You'll find your Team boxes on the left, and a list of your wiki's Members on the right.
  • At the bottom of the page, you'll be able to randomly assign members to Teams .
  • Alternatively, checkmark all members that should be part of the same team.
  • Drag these checked usernames into their relevant Team box.
  • Repeat the process until all members are part of a Project Team.
Team Permissions
  • To set all Team permissions, click on the Permission button located underneath your Project Team boxes .
  • You'll also find a Permissions button at the bottom-right corner of each Team box:
  • Note that Team permissions introduce another security level on your wiki - For example, members on a private wiki won't have access to a private Project Team unless they were added as members of that Team. Additionally, non-members who visit your wiki will only be able to access a Team's page if the Team's permission setting is set to "Everyone".
Accessing Teams
  • Team Members will find a link to their Project Team, introduced on your wiki's Navigation Bar (As long as the default Navigation Bar Widget was not removed by the wiki's organizer).
  • Non Team Members will need to know the relevant Team's address - We recommend teachers introduce a link to relevant Teams on their wiki's home page.
